Preserving the Legacy
Give me the splendid, silent sun with all his beams full-dazzling. —Walt Whitman
Grown from the love of nature, deep roots in this community, and the owner’s five generations of history in southern Colorado, preservation of the natural world has come to be a guiding principle for Blue Goose. With a portion of the of funds directed towards conservation and sustainability, visitors have the opportunity to both learn about and participate in efforts to continue nature’s legacy in Colorado and beyond.
Both paid visitors and beneficiaries can receive educational instruction on sustainability and low-impact use of the land, and experience the outcomes first hand through fishing in the Conejos River and observing the majesty of nature’s bounty — from beaver swatting their tails in countless streams to eagles nesting in the trees of surrounding National Forest lands.
Blue Goose collaborates with non-profit and government organizations, focusing primarily on fish and aquatic ecosystems in the Conejos River, including:
- Projects that focus on native fish species and their ecosystems
- Projects that provide education on the importance of healthy aquatic ecosystems and that facilitate sustainable access
- Projects that improve the health of aquatic ecosystems through stream restoration and/or restoration of healthy flow regimens
